Strong Compatibility

Accurately indicate heading in latitudes above 80 degrees. This capability has been field-proven by the Xue Long vessels and other scientific research fleets operating in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

It can save several nautical miles of ineffective voyages every year and reduce fuel consumption and emissions for ship owners every year.

Maintain high accuracy even under harsh conditions such as ambient temperature fluctuations and magnetic field interference. They continue to function normally even when GPS and satellite navigation signals are lost for extended periods.

Accurately indicate heading in latitudes above 80 degrees. This capability has been field-proven by the Xue Long vessels and other scientific research fleets operating in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

Compatible with various navigation systems from multiple mainstream gyroscope manufacturers across different eras. This compatibility solves the challenges of replacing and upgrading compasses on operational ships.

Principle & Composition

The fundamental principle of the fiber optic gyroscope is the invariance of light-speed and the Sagnac effect. That is, the phase difference between two light waves propagating in opposite directions along a closed loop is proportional to the input angular rate in the closed optical path. Each optical path consists of a several hundred meters long fiber optic coil. The fiber optic coil is a really sensitive angular rate sensor that is capable of measuring the speed of rotation of the Earth. Hence, the Earth rotation and vehicular angular rate can be measured by the output of fiber optic coil.

The fiber-optic gyrocompass includes an optical portion and a signal processing portion.

Flagship series fiber-optic gyrocompass is made up of 3 fiber optic gyroscopes, 3 accelerometers and the signal processing boards, which is a complete solid-state design with no rotating or other moving parts. Flagship fiber-optic gyrocompass provides heading, roll, pitch, and rotation rates around all tri-axis of the vehicles.

After the specific force and angular rate from inertial measurement unit (IMU) is collected and compensated, the algorithm scheme is shown in the above figure. Through the coordinate transformation and Kalman Filter, the attitude matrix and the corresponding heading are obtained, and can satisfy the newest IMO requirements of Marine gyrocompass. Flagship series gyrocompass has the priorities of less setting time, higher measuring accuracy, better dynamic characteristics, rich navigation information, and large working geographic range, especially suitable for the marine navigation and control platforms of high-speed, large-mobility, and polar region.
